![]() After going to some handling classes and a few shows, Spice Rack Star Anise won her first championship points – a four point major! I was thrilled. In 2005, I joined the Cavalier King Charles Club of Central Arizona and started showing one of my dogs – Anise. As a practicing veterinarian, I started seeing cavaliers and just had to have one of them for myself! That was 2001, the same year my son, Cole, was born. That eventually lead to earning my veterinary degree from Colorado State University in 1998. After a few year stint as a CPA, I realized I needed to be working full time with animals. I started off playing games on the horses with my friends in the local fields and trails then progressed on to showing, competing and training 3-day eventers and jumpers. My childhood and young adulthood was spent in the barn, at a show or on a horse doing something. NOCO Humane is contracted to provide animal control for Larimer County, and as such, has received complaints with regard to stray animals at Just 4 Jacks Ranch & Sanctuary. ![]() ![]() However, NOCO Humane is not responsible for enforcing PACFA (Pet Animal Care and Facilities Act) regulations. The Colorado Department of Agriculture licenses pet animal facilities in accordance with state statutes, and we are aware that Just 4 Jacks Ranch & Sanctuary has been operating an unlicensed facility. Just 4 Jacks Ranch & Sanctuary, located in Larimer County near the town of Lyons, is a nonprofit, northern breed rescue organization that is dedicated to saving the lives of at-risk dogs in high-kill shelters and other tragic situations. A Colorado animal sanctuary that has helped save the lives of dozens of dogs says it is being forced to shut down and relocate to a new state because of zoning rules. ![]()
